Pre-Consultation Labour Market Snapshot

Planning for Action
that maximizes Niagara’s employment and economic prosperity
is something we all have a stake in.

• Employers need employees.
• Job seekers need jobs.
• Niagara needs a strong economic base to prosper.

Niagara has been selected as a demonstration pilot for Integrated Local Labour Market Planning (ILLMP)

Niagara has been selected by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as one of seven demonstration pilot areas as part of the Employment Ontario implementation of the Integrated Local Labour Market Planning framework (ILLMP). This framework recognizes that government is responsible for its programs and budgets but responds to a plan developed within a culture of co-ordination and shared accountability and endorsed and supported by community, business leaders and other provincial, federal and municipal governments.

The inaugural Niagara Labour Market Planning Committee has been formed with a mandate to guide and influence a local community-based planning process, address current labour supply and demand needs, and anticipate future needs from an evidence-based perspective.

A Vision in Action is grounded in a planning and consultation process that will ensure a broad outreach to local businesses, job seekers, educators, community agencies, and other stakeholders.

Participation is encouraged. You can share your input in person at a community consultation or through an on-line survey targeting job seekers and employers.

This Niagara integrated local labour market planning initiative is being facilitated by the Niagara Training & Adjustment Board, serving in a secretariat role.

The product: The Niagara Labour Market Planning Document is scheduled for release in June 2009.

If you have any questions, or wish to discuss this exciting initiative in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact me at
